Village idyll at Salzburg’s gates
Only 5km outside of the Mozart city of Salzburg, the clocks run very differently: in Anif bei Salzburg, houses decorated with flowers, lots of greenery and the impressive scenery of the Unterberg dominate the surroundings.
The pleasant remoteness, well-preserved village life and the good travel connections have raised Anif to the status of a noble suburb at Salzburg’s gates. Especially since the legendary conductor Herbert von Karajan settled here, numerous celebrities have made the immediate neighbourhood of the Friesacher hotel their residence.
But Anif has remained a quiet, contemplative place, surrounded by lots of green which is still cultivated by farmers. Jet set and simple farmers – a contradiction which is not mutually exclusive in Anif.
You can find tractors parked next to Rolls-Royces, in the Friesacher restaurant long-established locals at the regular’s table next to international opera stars. A charming mixture – to be experienced directly at the Friesacher hotel.
