Sriking, majestic, highly visible: Untersberg projects far into the Salzburg plain as a cornerstone of the Berchtesgaden Alps. The monumental Tafelberg with steep rugged rocks in the southern and eastern parts guards the Mozart city and marks the beginning of the Alps.
Beautiful hikes are available at any time of the year around the Untersberg, the home mountain of Salzburgers. Experienced hikers climb the mountain via various routes, if you prefer it a little easier you can take the Untersberg cable car, which masters the 1,320 meters altitude difference in 8.5 minutes.
On the Untersberg plateau, beautiful hiking and walking routes open up at airy heights and a unique view from the Chiemsee across the Salzkammergut to the Hohe Tauern mountains.
