Swimming holidays in Salzburg
The Salzburger Seenland (lakeland), suited between the Mozart city and the Salzkammergut, has 163 (!) lakes and 22 specially made swimming lakes.
With these numbers, one thing is clear: Water rats get their money’s worth. The biggest Salzburg lake is the Wolfgangsee, which is part of the Salzkammergut, just like the Fuschlsee and Hintersee. North of Salzburg are the Wallersee and the three Trumer lakes: Obertrumersee, Mattsee and Grabensee.
An Austrian characteristic: The water in all lakes is of drinkable quality. Sailing is also a big sport here: Boats and water sport accessories can be rented in many places.
The clear lakes and waters of course influence the menus of the Salzburg region. Freshly caught fish are available in all good taverns such as the Friesacher restaurant on the daily menu.
